When The Time Comes

The short film All the Time which is from the series Twilight Zone, made my heart ache twice. The part where the wife scribbled the man's book then proceeded to tear it in front of him and the last part wherein after finding his reason to live again, his glasses broke. Now if I was asked to write an adaptation of that story wherein the worries and problems will be about what we have today, I believe that I will end up focusing on the scarcity of our natural resources as the main worry.
It may not be like the atomic bomb wherein it will just happen all of a sudden. And that's what makes this problem worse. It is not impossible wherein a day will come that all the natural resources that we are using will be completely depleted. We tend to use these resources without planning and keeping in mind that they will not always replenish.
If I write the script, the people will not die in an instant due to a bomb. I can visualize it that the death rate would exponentially grow and it will not happen in only one country but throughout the world. One by one, we lose all these goods that we enjoy and we start to revert to our lives before we had electricity and all these high-tech gadgets. We would succumb to hunger and incurable illnesses and slowly suffer until out deaths.
Scary as it may seem, we cannot completely reject this idea like how they didn't reject the thought that that bomb could drop over their heads any moment. We must think of this carefully and plan the practical use of our natural resources. And keep on looking for alternatives. We must work on this faster, on faster pace before that time might really come.
