To the moon and, err, to the, uhm, past!

Honestly, I have difficulty in trying to determine what my reaction would be if I watched that film during that time period. Since a person is a product of his experiences, I believe how I reacted now and how I would react back then would be different. So, assuming the vantage point of the people during that “era” of rapid development (for entertainment purposes), the concept of a moving picture or a “movie" (you know how people think that –ie suffixes are cute), is something out of a fiction book, probably by Jules Verne. Or not. But anyway, it’s a concept that is highly alien technology-class, considering the technology of the time, despite it being a period of rapid development in the field of entertainment science. From that we could actually deduce the social zeitgeist of the period, though that isn’t really that important here. Anyway, there is a high probability that the movie “Trip to the moon” would’ve elicited the “WOWs” and “OMGs” of the time, if they actually had expressions similar to those. It’s because, number 1: It’s a MOVING PICTURE for pete’s sake. It’s like projecting someone’s memories, dreams and fantasies in to a giant white wall. Who wouldn’t want that? Number 2: It’s a movie about the prediction of new technology. Number 3: It’s a movie about journeying to new, uncharted territory. These elements have been used by the movie makers (LOL) in order entice the viewers by preying on their lust for novelty. And this, this is a giant piece of delicious novelty that is being dangled in front of their faces. How can anyone resist? Anyway, if we’re talking about vintage films, one should really watch the Star Wars saga. With the technology available during their time, they actually created one hell of a film, not to mention that it had religious and social criticisms hidden somewhere between the lines. Lots of symbolism, lots of action, lots of fun. Ugh. I wanna watch it again.
