Imagining that I was one of those who first saw the movie, and during that time when the universe was a mystery, I guess I would be really interested in the movie. And then I'd probably be disappointed in the end. I understand that the technology during that time wasn't so advanced yet. If I weren't so judgmental, I would have praised it. But that doesn't change my taste on movies. I don't really like movies that leave you with questions. And with the movie without any dialogues, it's up to you if you're gonna think this way or that way. The story line wouldn't be so concrete, and each person who watched it may have different versions of the story if you asked them what the movie was about. It would have just left me confused at the end.
If I lived at that time though, I would have been amazed by the ideas the writers had about what's beyond the earth's atmosphere. It would have left me with an excitement over all the new things they instilled in my mind. It would have left me thinking what really is beyond earth. I might even be convinced to be an astronomer or something! I would have wanted to be one of those who'd be able to discover the scientific truths about the universe. And lastly, I would have wanted to go to the moon!
It is generally an okay movie if the audience is still naive with higher qualities of movies. One would be satisfied because he/she wouldn't know that something better can be shown on the screens! The story line would also be interesting if the audience still didn't know about the facts. Of course, if you knew, you'd just laugh at the movie or just look at the screen and say, "What..." or simply, get bored, like how I actually felt while watching. Nonetheless, it was a great effort for the filmmakers at that time because as I said, technology wasn't so advanced and it would have taken a lot to make something like that.
