"The Fly"

To be honest, the film wasn’t that entertaining. This is because I’m used to the advanced graphics and special effects from the movies of today. But it was interesting for me though. What interested me was the fact that films with plots like “The Fly” were already around in the 1950’s. It was nice to know that the idea of such scientific advancements were already in the society’s minds long before our generation. And to top it off, the film showed how people from its time viewed science and technology discoveries and how they treat them.
Basically, the film showcased how science plays with our lives. It showed that science doesn’t favor one side than the other between the good and the bad. Science can be both bad and good for the society. It is just up to the society to decide and determine whether it’s for the good or bad.
Considering when the movie was produced, it was understood why the scientist who invented the teleportation device ended up in that way. People during that time were not yet used to science and technology. They handle discoveries with extreme caution because they do not know much and plenty of things and explanations still needed to be discovered.
The film actually tells us something, although we already know much about science and technology we still have to be very careful on dealing with them. Scientific discoveries travel on a never ending road. There are still much to learn and to be discovered.
