The talks from the GDAYX Seminar, a seminar held last September
23, 2013, were all about the search engine and most powerful website named
GOOGLE. In there, the speakers talked about how google can help someone in so
many ways. I was surprised that google had a lot to contribute in terms of
aiding businessmen, workers, employees, common people, and students. It caters
to mostly everyone who has internet and wants to communicate, collect data, and
even formulate business strategies.
At the first talk in the seminar, it was about the importance
of the “Human Element” in between technology and business. It is often
overlooked and generally becomes the missing link between technology and business.
This is why Gail, the speaker, gave several reasons why one must see the
importance of the users of google in every service oriented website. The users
of the internet are the focus market for they are the ones who help achieve
greater goals and widen the provider’s services. She mentioned the term “Crowd
Accelerated Innovation”, which means that the groups and volunteers are the
ones who put technology to a higher level or in other words expanding
technology through the user’s collaboration. Technology indeed will provide
more information to people who need it. For example, she plugged google to be
the tool that will be used to engage and educate which is perhaps seen in
google maps and person finder from the Typhoon Yolanda.

The third seminar talked about growing one’s
business using Youtube. It was said that 100 hours of video content is uploaded
to Youtube every minute. There are so many people who watch videos in this
website. Hence, the speaker, introduces it as a social platform. It provides a
venue for educating and engaging audiences. The speaker told about how one
business should conceptualize its videos. They should talk about what the
business is, showcasing the product or service, building of a brand like Michele
Phan’s make-up workshop, developing a relationship with one’s clients. In the
end, the goal is to always enhance online presence through the use of a video.
All in all,
I learned a lot from the activity. I am happy to see that technology, people
and business work together in so many ways. Technology provides us tools while
the people use these tools and the businesses just expand. In the end, all are
interconnected.
